While it was already confirmed that the next "Mass Effect" story will not feature Commander Shepard, the main protagonist will still be a human.
According to Crossmap, while developer BioWare remains silent on details about its upcoming sci-fi franchise installment, fans can't help but read between the lines of previous statements by the developer. Reportedly, while it is still unknown whether "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will ditch the story of Commander Shepard completely, the next protagonist for the title will still be human.
When asked about its plot, although indirectly, a general idea was supposedly answered by a tweet from Aaryn Flynn of BioWare, saying that, "Good question. The story is very much a human one, and we wanted to focus on that so it's relatable."
It is unclear if the new story, since it will be a "human one," will be related to what happened to Commander Shepard and the events that shaped the first three titles of the "Mass Effect" franchise.
According to some fan theories picked up by Express, it seems that fans want the two stories to meet, either directly or indirectly. The industry follower said that since the new story still has some elements from the old one (like the Mako), the events in "Mass Effect: Andromeda" may be connected to the first three "Mass Effect" titles.
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" will primarily be a new exploration project for its players. While the specific storylines are yet to be divulged, the official blurb from BioWare reads, "You'll be exploring an all-new galaxy, Andromeda, and piloting the new and improved Mako you saw. And through it all, you will have a new team of adventurers to work with, learn from, fight alongside of, and fall in love with."
No specific release has yet been confirmed, though speculations place the title to have a late 2016 release, possibly by winter.
