Will Marvel's Agent Carter return for a second season?

From the looks of it, the answer is likely pointed in a negative direction. Despite the hype given to the show, Hayley Atwell and company failed to sustain the high expectations and saw ratings dip enormously.

Agent Carter did have a decent showing in the early goings but that all changed drastically in the second week which saw ratings drop by as much as 25% and the trend continued to follow from there.

The show did manage to show a 1.4 rating, drawing 4.15 million viewers as the show reached its season finale.

ABC however has yet to make an official announcement on whether Agent Carter will indeed be cancelled but the developments aside from the poor ratings seem to be evidence enough that the show may be cancelled.

We had previously reported that such speculations arose especially when the episodes were cut to just 8. Among the reasons seen behind the turnstile was the half-hearted plots and lack of focus which led to disappointed viewers.

Fans were believed to be so disappointed that many had reportedly avoided watching the series purposely.

Producers pulled out different stops to try and get the show up and interesting once more. That included plots linked to Black Widow and the Howling Commandos but such failed to help jack up the ratings of the show.

A flicker of hope lies on a second season with ABC entertainment head Paul Lee said to remain optimistic about the series.

Walt Disney and Marvel could decide to give Agent Carter one last try but from the looks of it, that possibility looks quite bleak especially with the disappointing turn series of events.
