'Mario Kart 8' Mercedes Car DLC and other free new cars

To all "Mario Kart 8" players, there will be an awesome DLC for Wii U headed your way and this one will surely be an update to remember. On August 27, the Mercedes Car DLC will be available in the U.S., the same time it will be available in Japan. The Mercedes DLC marks the 22<sup>nd anniversary of Super Mario Kart.

What kinds of Mercedes car will be available? According to IGN, there's the 1957 300 SL Roadster sports car, the 1934 W 25 Silver Arrow formula racing car and the new compact SUV, the GLA. The GLA will feature special wheel options, but all three cars can still utilize different gliders and wheels.

The two racing cars from Mercedes are considered some of the best in its history, while the inclusion of the compact SUV GLA is for promotion. In fact, the DLC is a crossover campaign to help Mercedes promote the GLA in the North America and Europe.

Nintendo released a trailer for the Mercedes DLC, in Japanese via Twitter. It clearly stated that the release of the downloadable content will be on August 27 for both North America and Europe. Included in the tweet is another information on the "Mario Kart 8" game update.

Cheesemeister translated the Nintendo tweet and it revealed a couple more things to expect. The translation read "@Nintendo #MarioKart8 8/27 update to add map display on the TV screen, 3 free Mercedes-Benz karts: GLA, W25 Silver Arrow, 300 SL Roadster. Default menu selection following GP changing to next race. Last used kart customization added to save. Edit others' highlights. Records screen w/ total coins, online win-loss record, character selection rates, etc. being added. Improved online stability."
