Speculations say Nintendo is readying a new batch of post-launch content for "Mario Kart 8" and will start releasing it after the E3 2016, including an expansion pack with throwback content.

Speculations suggested that Nintendo maybe readying a new DLC pack for the racer title. According to Nintendo Life, a tweet about "Mario Kart 8" has been posted online with the Kalimari Desert as backdrop and the post comes with caption "Good things come to those who wait."

Hardcore fans will easily understand the reference as the location is a major area for the classic "Mario Kart 64."

Nintendo has yet to confirm what expansion content will be released for "Mario Kart 8." However, the last major updates for the game brought expansion content for other franchises, such as DLC packs from "Animal Crossing" and "The Legend of Zelda." Since Nintendo still has other major franchises in its portfolio, new content for the racing game is still highly possible. Besides the classic "Mario Kart 64," launched in 1996, the Kalimari Desert track was also showcased in the franchise installment "Mario Kart 7."

Should Nintendo plan on releasing new content for "Mario Kart 8," a post-E3 release is already expected. It has been some time now since the publisher rolled out any major improvements and add-on content for the game. The last update that "Mario Kart 8" had tweaked the gameplay by introducing the 200cc option for races. There was also a purchase add-on that unlocked new characters, motorcycles and cars and tracks on the playlist.

"Mario Kart 8" is the current-gen installment in the racing franchise of Nintendo. It was announced at the E3 2013 and released a year later.
