Man arrested for stalking and attempting to kidnap singer Lana Del Rey

A man named Michael Hunt was arrested on Feb. 2 for stalking and attempting to kidnap singer Lana Del Ray.

In a statement on Feb. 3 posted by the Orlando Police on Twitter, the authorities announced that they had indeed arrested Hunt. The arrest was made following a tip on Feb. 2 about a possible kidnapping threat against Del Ray who was then about to perform at Amway Center later that night. The police weighed the threat and when they found it credible, they sought to locate Hunt.

The Orlando police found Hunt at Hughey Avenue near Central Boulevard, one block away from where Del Ray was scheduled to perform. When he was taken into custody, he was found to have in his possession tickets to Del Ray's concert as well as a knife. He is currently held at Orange County Jail on no bond.

According to local news outlet Orlando Sentinel, the tipster reported Hunt's ominous social media posts. Hunt's Facebook page apparently contained posts made prior to the concert with Hunt confessing his love for Del Ray and his intent to be with her. Orlando Sentinel also reported that Hunt had been imprisoned five times — his charges include burglary of an occupied structure, grand theft of a motor vehicle, grand theft with a firearm, forgery and possession and sale of marijuana.

Hunt was initially charged with aggravated stalking with a credible threat and attempted kidnapping with a weapon. However, according to local news outlet News 6, the judge dropped the attempted kidnapping charge after finding no probable cause during his first court appearance on Feb. 4. Nonetheless, the judge emphasized that his other charge, aggravated stalking, was still a grave charge.

Meanwhile, Del Ray said in a tweet on Feb. 4 that she is well and she is thankful for the messages she received from her fans.
