"Madam Secretary's" Elizabeth (Tea Leoni) will be spending the show's Holiday with a party, though not the fun kind since it will be a political party.

Episode 9 of season 4 of "Madam Secretary," titled "Minefield," will see the secretary of state organizing a big event with a political agenda in mind. The synopsis reveals that President Dalton (Keith Carradine) is planning to pass a treaty which involves landmines. To do this, he needs the support of the Senate. His plans for the said explosive weapons are for them to be destroyed by every country stockpiling them, ending all the dangers associated with the lethal devices.

Initially, though, Dalton was reluctant at the prospect. It was only until Elizabeth convinced him otherwise that he enacted the anti-landmine program. This was probably why Dalton gave the burden of the feat to Elizabeth since she understands the issue much more and has a lot more conviction towards it.

Elizabeth will surely have a tough time in the said party as instead of enjoying it, she will be jumping from senator to senator in order to persuade them to support Dalton's cause and motive. That said, she will be employing the help of her daughter Stevie (Wallis Currie-Wood) to assist her with the party and ensure that the esteemed guests enjoy it. Still, it will prove to be quite a monumental feat as they will have to win the hearts and minds of the majority of the Senate before the night ends.

This does not mean that the two should neglect their appearances, as Elizabeth is seen in the set photos to be wearing a black patterned dress while her daughter flaunts a classy blonde bun while wearing a golden dress.

Whether or not Elizabeth and her daughter can achieve what the President asks of them will be seen once Episode 9 of season 4 of "Madam Secretary" is aired on Sunday, Dec. 10, at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.
