Apple seems to be sticking with its novel idea of ditching the 3.5 mm audio jack. Aside from the iPhone 7, speculations suggest that the Cupertino-based tech giant is thinking of removing the audio jack in the upcoming 2016 MacBook Pro when it allegedly launches next month.
According to MacRumors, Apple has recently sent a survey to its MacBook user base, asking some details on technical features and specs for the device. One survey question touched on the 3.5 mm headphone jack on the MacBook Pro, as the survey asked users how often they use the audio jack on the laptop. This may mean that Apple is also thinking of making a Lightning port audio jack standard on all of its device lineups. This seems likely since the tech giant has already started converting the 3.5 mm headphone jack to Lightning port audio support in the newly-launched iPhone 7. An October release is also likely, as Apple will want to follow-up its iPhone 7 change with another device that features the audio jack conversion.
Aside from the headphone jack, the industry follower added that Apple may be thinking of improvements to the 2016 MacBook Pro, as the survey also touched on other specs and features like battery life. Meanwhile, there is a hint that the new edition — or a future one — may also come out with an SD card slot already included in the ports section, as the survey also asked, "How do you upload photos from a digital camera or phone to your MacBook Pro with Retina Display?"
The improvements are expected to be added to the already growing number of changes for the rumored 2016 MacBook Pro. Previous supposed leaks have already showcased one noted change for the new laptop, an OLED touch panel. Located above the keyboard, the touch panel is said to feature function and shortcut keys, and will change its feature depending on the opened app in the MacBook Pro.
