MacBook Pro 2016 release date, latest specs rumors: laptop to launch at Infinite Loop event?

Apple has just confirmed that the company will have a stand-alone event soon. Dubbed the Infinite Loop event, the supposed unveiling event will take place on March 21, and Apple will reportedly launch a number of new products. Fans are wondering if a new MacBook iteration will be included.

Apple has not announced the list of its products scheduled for launch at the March 21 event, so a new MacBook by next week is still unconfirmed.

MacWorld UK says that the idea is a plausible one. However, speculations suggest that Apple may be thinking of limiting its March 21 unveiling event to only a handful of small mobile devices, and a laptop flagship may not be among the products to be seen. In addition, it is more likely that the launch of the new MacBooks will start after the March 21 event, possibly at the annual Apple event, the WWDC, scheduled for the middle of the year.

The industry follower added that should there a MacBook-related launch for next week's event, it may not be a new laptop iteration at all. Instead, Apple may be targeting a number of MacBook updates for its current laptop lineup.

However, some observers are not keen on a mid-year launch for the new MacBooks. According to Yibada, the Cupertino-based company has already made an early-in-the-year release in the past of a new MacBook, and Apple may do so again. In addition, with Apple having a couple of MacBook lineups, a staggered release starting early in the year is probable, with the next launches occurring in the middle of and late 2016 completing the new lineups.

The industry observer stated that another hint that a new MacBook will be unveiled is Apple putting at least three laptop iterations on its obsolete and vintage list. Recently, the company announced that it will be stopping support for the 2009 Xserve, as well as the 17-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pros launched in 2010.
