London Concert to Raise Funds for Disability Charities

Disability charities John Grooms and the Shaftesbury Society will host a joint concert this month at St Paul's Church in Knightsbridge in London.

The Summer Sounds Concert, to be held June 14, will feature a host of special guests including the Urban Voices gospel choir and the baritone John Lofthouse.

Lofthouse is expected to perform a duet from the Barber of Seville by Rossini, highlights from the Nozze di Figaro by Mozart and One Day More from Les Miserables.

The event will be fronted by BBC Songs of Praise presenter Pam Rhodes.

Says Rhodes: "This is going to be a wonderful evening, and a perfect way to celebrate the fantastic work that John Grooms does. Urban Voices are a unique gospel choir with a range of beautiful voices. And the acoustics of the 19th century St Paul's church will show them off perfectly."

According to John Chamberlain, Head of PR & Communications of John Grooms, the Summer Sounds concert is hoping to raise an estimated £10,000 in funds for both charities.

"This will enable us to provide vital services to around 10,000 disabled people per year, by helping them to achieve greater independence, choice and freedom," said Chamberlain.

Tickets for the event are available via phone 0207 452 2111 or by e-mailing events@johngrooms.org.uk.
