'Logan Lucky' release date, plot news: Daniel Craig, Channing Tatum and Adam Driver pull biggest NASCAR heist [VIDEO]

Daniel Craig, Channing Tatum and Adam Driver will pull the biggest NASCAR heist in the action film "Logan Lucky." Set for an Aug. 18 debut in theaters across America, the movie's first trailer has been released and has been receiving positive reactions from fans.

"Logan Lucky" centers on the Logan brothers Jimmy (Tatum) and Clude (Driver) who are down on their luck. They want to stage a robbery during the biggest race of the year, the Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, where bundles of cash are stashed.

However, the Logan brothers have no smarts to pull such a heist. So, they enlist the help of Joe Bang (Daniel Craig), but first, they have to get him out of prison.

"Logan Lucky" marks the return Steven Soderbergh as director after nearly four years of shunning feature films. Sodebergh, an Academy-award winner for "Traffic," is best known for his work on "Ocean's 11" and the rest of the trilogy. "Logan Lucky" actually has that "Ocean's" vibe except that the heist isn't perfectly executed.

Joining Craig, Tatum and Driver in the film are Sebastian Stan, Katie Holmes, Seth MacFarlane, Hillary Swank, Riley Keough, Katherine Waterston. All of them play criminals gunning for the Logan brothers.

In an interview with USA Today, Soderbergh said "Logan Lucky" made him love sports car racing when he didn't have knowledge about this before. Working among real-life NASCAR drivers felt refreshing for the director as he described them as "very unpretentious." NASCAR gave Soderbergh their full support during the movie's production.

Tatum, on the other hand, agreed to do the film because he instantly loved the plot. "It is basically a bunch of good ol' boys robbing NASCAR and that got a pretty good giggle out of me," he said. Take a look at the teaser for "Logan Lucky" below.
