The LG G3 is already a premium phone and a lovely purchase but users are sure to write down this LG flagship on their Christmas list for another good reason. The Android 5.0 Lollipop update is coming to the smartphone heavyweight really soon. This handset was released back in June 2014. With tons of buyers who now own and enjoy one, this Android news is something to thrill.

According to IBTimes, LG G3 owners and the many more individuals who plan to get this handset will be able to enjoy the newest OS update by the end of the year, as LG Netherlands and LG Belgium promised. No exact date was tipped out but one thing that's certain is that the day is just around the corner.

To give users the ultimate tease, European LG outlets have leaked images of the LG G3 donning the Lollipop look. However, it is noteworthy that LG G3 kept its minimalist Optimus User Interface and it only looks better than ever when paired up with Lollipop's Material Design. Nevertheless, the smartphone has all the new Lollipop features and improvements to enjoy. The handset's status bar is changed with the integration of a card-based notification system. A circular profile picture is also part of the update seen on the leaked images. These two alterations are unique to Android 5.0 Lollipop only. According to Tech Radar, health tracking features that are currently present in the LG G Watch R such as the heart-rate sensor and the step counter will also tag along the OS update.

According to Phone Arena via IBTimes, LG G2 will get the software in the beginning of next year as well. In addition, Tech Radar remarked that LG G2 Mini and LG G3 Beat are likely to be the Lollipop update's next targets.
