Leonardo DiCaprio news: To participate in Quentin Tarantino Manson film

American actor and Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio is set to take part in Quentin Tarantino's next movie -- which will revolve around the story of one of America's most infamous serial killerrs, Charles Manson. The upcoming project will be the second time that Tarantino and DiCaprio work together, after the blockbuster hit "Django Unchained." The Charles Manson project will be Tarantino's ninth film.

As reported by Deadline, it is clear that DiCaprio will not be taking on the challenging role of the mass murderer. Instead, he will be playing an actor whose career may be waning due to aging. Both DiCaprio and Tarantino have been quiet about any details of the project, and fans will have to wait patiently for more details. The story is set during 1969 in Los Angeles, around the time the Manson murders took place.

The movie will be executed in Tarantino fashion, which means that it is safe to assume that the film will not be presenting the events in chronological order.

Additionally, another A-lister was secured by the renowned director -- he successfully convinced Australian actress Margot Robbie to play Manson's victim, actress Sharon Tate. Tarantino is currently aiming to release the movie during the 50th anniversary of Tate's death, which would make the film much more meaningful. On top of that, Manson already died a few months ago at the age of 83, which could make the film more relevant.

Sony is responsible as to why the project is successfully under way as of now by outbidding other big-named studios since it put its faith in Tarantino to make a potentially great film, despite the sensitive subject matter. The film is bringing people together once more, with the reunion of DiCaprio and Robbie, as well as reports indicating that Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt have been expressing their interests in being a part of the project.

Cruise and Pitt have not worked with one another since the 1994 film "Interview with the Vampire."
