'Left 4 Dead 3' release date: Valve rumored to be working on sequel

Previously rumored to already be in the works, a new "Left 4 Dead" sequel is reportedly confirmed by developer Valve.

According to Game Rant, a confirmation that "Left 4 Dead 3" is indeed coming out may have been inadvertently outed by a Valve employee. Reportedly, Tristan Redford, a conceptual artist for the studio, uploaded some screenshots from his current portfolio. Although there are no related images from the franchise, one of the screenshots shows a folder in the recently accessed files, marked "Left4Dead3." This led to speculations that Redford may be on the creative team that is working on the sequel.

The industry follower adds that another clue can be found in Redford's Steam profile. While it is inconclusive, the artist has been listed as playing "Left 4 Dead 2" a number of times recently. This adds fuel to the rumors that the artist is hard at work on "Left 4 Dead 3" and may have gone back and familiarized himself with the previous title in order to check out the flow of the story and gameplay.

"Let 4 Dead 3" has long been anticipated by hardcore fans of the zombie survival franchise, along with another big-name series from the studio, "Half-Life 3." However, Valve remains non-committal to the possibility of the two sequels releasing in the future.

There are a number of leaks that reportedly shows Valve working on "Left 4 Dead 3," like the rumored 2017 outing with full support for VR gaming. This is also the case for "Half-Life 3." However, pending official announcement from Valve, all supposed leaks and sightings remain speculations. Even Gabe Newell, Valve CEO, continues to be mum and has gone on record to say that the sequel for "Half-Life 3" will only be forthcoming if the development team wants it.
