Kerry Washington pregnant? No, announces "Girl Rising" project on GMA

There has been speculation that actress Kerry Washington was pregnant wit her first child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha when she announced that she had "to share something special" on Good Morning America this morning.

However, instead of announcing any impending baby news, the actress announced her participation in the "Girl Rising" project. Washington recently narrated a documentary called "Girl Rising" which followed the lives of women from nine developing countries struggling to get an education. Other actresses who narrated for the documentary include Cate Blanchett, Selena Gomez, Anne Hathaway, Salma Hayek, Alicia Keys, Chloe Moretz, Freida Pinto, and Meryl Streep.

Washington spoke passionately about educating girls around the world. "If a child is born to a woman who can read, they are 50 percent more likely to live above the age of five. So this is about saving children's lives."

In the documentary, the actress is the voice of 16-year-old Suma from Nepal, who freed herself from forced labor. She told GMA's Robin Roberts: "She is a young woman who has been able to overcome odds that are unimaginable through the power of learning,"

Information on "Girl Rising" and how to see the documentary can be seen on girlrising.com.

Twitter had been abuzz that the "Scandal" actress would announce her pregnancy during her appearance on the show this morning.
