Jim Carrey slammed for mocking 'monstrous' Christian Sarah Huckabee Sanders in portrait

Comedian Jim Carrey recently shared a portrait on his Twitter account that landed him in hot water and under the ire of the public as he described the caricature of a woman as a "monstrous Christian."

The actor made no direct reference to any names when he posted the "monstrous" portrait of a dark-haired "Christian woman" who "lied for the wicked" on Twitter. But his followers quickly guessed that the image was that of White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

A rep from Carrey's camp confirmed that the actor himself painted the image but wouldn't state if it's actually Sanders. Twitter users, on the other hand, called out Carrey for using the word "Christian" to mock the press secretary.

"It's ok to be mean and hurtful as long as it's to someone you disagree with, right?" one Twitter user chimed. "This is a classic example of bullying."

Even Sanders' father, former Gov. Mike Huckabee called out Carrey on Twitter as a "Christaphobe" for attacking his daughter's faith. Candace Owen, the hosts of "Fox and Friends," also shared her opinion and said that what Carrey did was ugly and "un-Christian like."

It's not the first time that the "Ace Ventura" actor used social media to showcase his controversial drawings. In the past, Carrey shared caricatures of President Donald Trump and other politicians, as well as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and scientist Stephen Hawking. Curiously, one of his most noted works is a portrait of Jesus.  He admitted in the documentary "I Needed Color" that producing artwork is a cathartic process for him.

Carrey took up painting to get over and heal from a failed a relationship. Eventually, however, he used the medium to express his struggles and frequently sketched in his spare time.
