Jill Duggar's Mother-In-Law Celebrates 2 Years of Being Cancer-Free

When Derick and Jill Dillard of "Counting On" took a short break from their Central American ministry and returned to the United States, they made sure to visit Derick's mother Cathy Byrum and check on her condition.

The couple is happy to note that Byrum is in great health, and is now celebrating two years of being cancer-free, according to the Duggar Family Blog.

Byrum was first diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma back in 2014, just two weeks after Derick and Jill got engaged. It was a bittersweet experience for the couple as their June 21st wedding approached. As happy as they were to start a new life together, it was also painful for them to see Byrum suffering.

Byrum was unable to attend their rehearsal dinner, and it was Derick's younger brother Dan who took her place and spoke on behalf of the Dillard family during the couple's special day. Thankfully, Byrum made it to the couple's wedding ceremony.

She arrived in a wheelchair directly from the hospital, and was escorted by her husband Ronnie. With the help of wedding planner Sierra Dominguez, Byrum was able to stay close to her son's side throughout the celebration.

The battle was only beginning for Byrum then, but she remained committed in her faith in God. Her faith saw her through as God removed her cancer, and she is now enjoying a new lease in life.

To celebrate her victory over cancer, Byrum re-used the dress she wore to her son's wedding. Byrum noted that the dress fits much better now that she has gained 25 pounds.

At the same time, Byrum's improving health means that she can help take care of her grandchild as well. The Dillards are currently enjoying their first son Israel David, but his parents plan on giving him lots of brothers and sisters soon.

Jill earlier disclosed to Us Magazine that she and Derick plan to have lots of children together. "I have loved having lots of brothers and sisters," Jill said. "Although Derick comes from a family with just one brother, both of us would love to have as many children as God will give us."
