In the season 2 finale of "Jane the Virgin," Michael (Brett Dier) got shot before he and Jane (Gina Rodriguez) had the chance to consummate their marriage. Now, Michael's life is in danger and he may not live through season 3, possibly not even to the time when Jane loses her virginity.

To recap last season's finale, Michael never made it to his honeymoon with Jane after he was shot by Rose (Bridget Regan), putting him in a serious condition in the hospital. No one knows if he'll still be alive, but signs from the show are pointing towards bad news. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman was asked about how she thinks fans are reacting to Michael's possible death. "I put that line in episode ten that he will love her for the rest of his life — that's what people are responding to. The question is how long is that life, so it could be now, it could be later," said Urman.

In the season 3 promo of "Jane the Virgin," the narrator Anthony Mendez seems to be describing Michael and Jane's relationship through a flashback, saying that some great romances have tragic endings. Could the tragic ending to their relationship be Michael's death?

During an interview with Bustle, Mendez says that Jane will have new relationships in the next season. It is possible that Jane will not lose her virginity to Michael after all. "This season we might see things possibly steam up with her new relationships. I can't say whether that's with Michael or somebody else from her past that's coming in."

With "Jane the Virgin" having a new pregnancy every season, viewers will find out in season 3 what Xo (Andrea Navedo) will do with hers. Last season, Xo found out that she was pregnant but she doesn't know if Rogelio (Jamie Camil) or Esteban (Keller Wortham) is the father.

"Jane the Virgin" season 3 will premiere on Monday, Oct. 17, at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
