Robert Downey Jr. was in attendance at the San Diego Comic-Con 2014, together with his co-stars for "Avengers: Age of Ultron." There, Downey hinted about the possible release date of "Iron Man 4," which could be 2019.
Kevin Feige, Marvel President, also hinted about "Iron Man 4" in an interview with Collider. "Of course, anything's a possibility. Who the heck knows? We have a lot of work to go to finish 'Avengers 2.' We have a lot of work for whatever 'Avengers 3' is, that's all folks need to know. Who knows what happens after that."
However, the bigger question on everyone's mind is, who will play Iron Man in "Iron Man 4?" Of course, many are rooting for Downey to reprise his role. But there was a rumor that Downey didn't want to play the role anymore. Hence, names like Colin Farrell popped up.
But in more recent news, Downey has expressed his interest in playing the role again, yet, things are still pretty vague at this point. Downey told Entertainment Weekly: "It's down to Kevin and Ike [Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment] and Disney to come to us with what the proposal is, and that's on us to agree or disagree."
"When things are going great, there's a lot of agreement. Right now, this has just been swell, hasn't it? This has been a really good one and it feels good and we're having a good time. It's that thing of: Why give up the belt when it feels like you can barely get jabbed?" Downey adds. "Most people are saying that right when they get knocked out. The future is, as usual, uncertain."
If "Iron Man 4" does come to fruition, the main antagonist would be The Mandarin. And this is a story arc that will crossover with the "Guardians of the Galaxy." The Collector or The Nova Corps will have the Fing Fang Foom, who will come to Earth. He will then fight Iron Man, get beaten and seek help from Mandarin who will both attack Iron Man.
When Iron Man wins, Fing Fang Foom will discover that he comes from a cosmic origin. He goes to the galaxy and joins the Guardian, according to Movie Pilot.
