iPhone EarPods vs Galaxy S8 earbuds review: Which came out on top?

Samsung has previously bragged about the earbuds that come bundled with the Galaxy S8, saying that such were produced by AKG, a trusted audio manufacturer which was bought by the Korean brand. However, how well does the product perform when matched against the iPhone EarPods?

While many have complained about Apple's decision to remove the headphone jack in the latest iPhone iteration, it cannot be denied that the wireless technology offers a lot of convenience, not the least of which is users no longer having to worry about tangled lines. With that said, several reviewers have gone on record to say that the sound produced by the AKG earbuds are much better than Apple's offering.

Business Insider reported that the sounds produced by the earbuds are much sharper but at the same time more balanced compared to those by Apple. The article also made the comment that the EarPods emphasized bass, to the point of overwhelming the rest. In contrast, the AKG earbuds do not drown out one frequency in favor of another. Nonetheless, it said that while the pair is impressive for a freebie, it still does not feel like a premium product like those that you can buy separately, contrary to Samsung's claims.

TechRadar also mentioned the compatibility of the AKG earbuds with other devices, in contrast to EarPods, which essentially can only be used with iPhone 7. It also said that the wiring is sturdier compared to Apple's, making it less likely to undergo fraying as it ages. Furthermore, the earbuds are reportedly designed to fit comfortably without running the danger of falling off the ears. The article also noted that given that a large amount of money will be spent on either phone, it only makes sense that the accessories these come bundled with are as good as the handsets.

Many view Samsung's shift to AKG-produced earphones as a step in the right direction. Users will find nothing to complain about this, given that it comes bundled for free with the phone.
