iPhone 8 release date, specs rumors: Flagship to come out with a dual-cam setup?

According to speculations, an improved dual-cam setup will be one of the flagship features for the iPhone 8. However, it remains to be seen if the feature will make it to all variants of the lineup.

MacRumors reports that a brand-new prediction from noted Apple soothsayer Ming-Chi Kuo states that an improved dual-cam setup will feature on next year's iPhone. According to the noted KGI Securities analyst, unlike the iPhone 7 Plus, the upcoming dual-cam setup will feature OIS functions for both lenses, meaning that that new setup will have improved optical zoom range and photo quality. To date, the iPhone 7 Plus offers dual-cam setup, but the optical image stabilization function is only featured on its main lens.

Meanwhile, it is said to be confirmed if Apple will feature its improved dual-cam setup on the entire iPhone 8 lineup. Kuo believes that as with what the Cupertino-based tech giant has done with the current flagship, the iPhone 8 Plus will be the only variant to feature the improved dual-cam setup. The base, 4.7-inch version will retain a single-camera assembly. In addition, the larger variant will also serve as a step-up version, with an OLED display. The base model, on the other hand, will retain an LCD screen.

However, even with main differences in the versions, the 2017 iPhone is said to feature major improvements, including a radical redesign for its body and form factor. The massive improvements will allow Apple to skip the anticipated "S" model, instead jumping to new versions. It is yet unclear on whether the 2017 flagship will be dubbed as the iPhone 8, or if Apple will celebrate its 10-year smartphone anniversary with the iPhone X.

Purported specs and features for the new iPhone include a new body, an all-glass construction sandwiching the device. Under the hood, the next iPhone is said to carry a new A11 chipset, paired with at least 3 GB of RAM.
