It is already expected that Apple will come out with a next-gen iPhone next year. Speculations suggest that because of the major improvements, the Cupertino-based tech giant will jump over versions and launch the new lineup as the iPhone X.

According to KnowYourMobile, it is significant to note that Apple will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the iPhone in 2017. Reportedly, it is likely that since the next-gen flagship will feature major improvements and redesign over the previous iPhone lineups. It is also likely that the company will rebrand it as the iPhone X, instead of the expected iPhone 8 moniker.

While Apple has yet to confirm it, jumping over versions for flagships is not new. Just this year, Apple's fiercest rival, South Korea-based Samsung, has launched the Galaxy Note 7. The new flagship has offered major improvements that the tech maker jumped over a sixth version from the previous-generation Galaxy Note 5.

It is also said that Apple will radically shift its lineup releases starting next year, foregoing the SE and S versions of the iPhone lineup, and a rebrand to the iPhone X will achieve this.

Meanwhile, based on the supposed leaks of the specs and features of the 2017 iPhone, it can be said that a major overhaul is underway. One of the purported improvements is on the design and form factor of the lineup. The iPhone X is said to be an all-glass construction, with the hardware sandwiched in between. In addition, it may well be a truly closed-off device. Aside from ditching the 3.5mm audio jack, the 2017 iPhone is likely to include wireless charging.

Speculations also point out that with the emergence of concept phones, Apple will also incorporate surprising features to the next iPhone. Supposedly, the 2017 iPhone will switch over to OLED displays, and its flexibility will allow Apple to integrate a near bezel-less screen for the iPhone. Ditching the home button, the front panel will be occupied by a larger screen area, with the Touch ID baked on the screen glass itself.

Meanwhile, it is already expected that the 2017 iPhone will be featuring Apple's next-gen components under the hood, like a new A11 chipset as well as at least 4 GB of RAM.
