Although Apple has just released its newest iPhone lineup, observers are already speculating about the major improvements for the iPhone 7 follow-up. Rumors say that major changes for the upcoming iPhone 8 include wireless charging.

According to The Nikkei Asian Review, sources close to Foxconn states that wireless charging may be a feature for the upcoming iPhone 8. The Foxconn Technology Group is reportedly making wireless charging modules, ostensibly as a component for the 2017 iPhone.

However, even if the modules are already in assembly, the source added that it is still unclear if the feature will make it to the first batch of iPhone 8 releases or if Apple plans to add it later on to an "iPhone 8s" iteration. The source stated, "But whether the feature can eventually make it into Apple's updated devices will depend on whether Foxconn can boost the yield rate to a satisfactory level later on."

Although Apple has yet to confirm the rumors, Foxconn focusing on the component is already a hint. The China-based tech maker is Apple's third-party partner for iPhone production.

The industry follower also touched on the next iPhone as the iPhone 8 to be unconfirmed. Apparently, the Cupertino-based tech giant will be introducing a number of major improvements and a complete design overhaul that it may decide to rebrand its next lineup as part of the iPhone's 10-year anniversary.

Meanwhile, the different speculations do paint a completely overhauled iPhone for 2017. Aside from wireless charging, Apple is said to switch over from LCD to OLED displays and an edge-to-edge screen for the next iPhone. In addition, the form factor will also be completely redesigned, as Apple is supposedly introducing an all-glass body for the iPhone 7 follow-up. The construction is a "sandwich chassis," with the front and back panel making a tight fit for the new iPhone, so an IP6X certification or better is also expected.
