iPad Air 3 release date: Tablet to feature 4K display?

Speculations say that Apple is thinking of launching the much-anticipated iPad Air 3 together with a number of new products in a stand-alone event next month. Although the unveiling date has yet to be confirmed by the Cupertino-based company, observers are already speculating on the upcoming iPad's new specs and features.

According to MacRumors, one of the most likely features that might make it to the iPad Air 3 is a 4K display. Reportedly, suppliers for Apple let it slip that display makers General Interface Solution and TPK will share production of 4K touch panels for the new iPad Air.

Interestingly, the industry follower also noted that aside from having a 9.7-inch 4K display, the unnamed sources claimed that the new iPad Air 3 will debut with a 4GB RAM and improved battery performance and will enter mass production in the second quarter of 2016. This timeframe dovetails with the March launch rumors.

Aside from a brighter screen, bigger RAM and battery, and a number of expected new features, the report also claimed that the suppliers have allegedly confirmed the new 4K displays for the iPad Air 3 having 3D Touch integrated into the panels. Should this be proven true, it debunks previous speculations that Apple will not be featuring the 3D Touch feature on the upcoming iPad Air 3 due to assembly difficulties.

Meanwhile, aside from the new iPad Air 3, Apple will reportedly introduce its other lineups at the event. Fox News mentioned that aside from a new tablet, Apple is also set to unveil the much-awaited 4-inch iPhone dubbed the iPhone 5se, as well as a refreshed Apple Watch with new sensors and new bands. Apple will reportedly complete its new product lineup this year with the Apple Watch 2 and a new lineup of MacBooks in the second half of 2016.
