International Bible Society Revives the Word in East Europe's New Generation

Compared to the Southern Hemisphere where the revival of the Gospel has been observed clearly over the past decade, especially in the Africa, Europe seems like a weary land with churches closing down all over the place. However, the International Bible Society (IBS) is one of the organisation which has responded to the call of many evangelists for the revival of the Europe mission.

Most of the countries in Eastern Europe, such as Slovakia and Poland, were previously under the gloom of Communism. But since Communism fell, these countries have enjoyed a much greater degree of freedom in religion. Even though, according to the Eastern Europe Outreach, the restriction from the government to evangelical Christians is still threatening, IBS has been gaining success in the propogation of the Gospel in this area.

In view of the powerful influence of education on children, school education and children outreach have been the main focuses. IBS has drawn plans to share Christ with more than 230,000 children in schools in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan and Slovakia.

Bulgaria
With the approval of the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and the Orthodox Church, the IBS will distribute 30,000 Bulgarian/English My First Bibles and 5,000 Bulgarian Jesus - The Story of His Life. Gospels of Mark.

Czech Republic
IBS is the only organisation permitted to share Scriptures in Czech Republic schools. The IBS will give 12,000 students Manna Mini Bibles and 800 teachers Czech New Testaments.

Ukraine
The IBS and the Ukraine Bible Society (UBS) will distribute 100,528 Scripture pieces including Jesus - Story of His Life Gospels of Mark, Life Application Bible New Testament portions, and New Testaments.

Kyrgyzstan
Through the Kyrgyz Ministry of Education and local churches, IBS will give 5,000 students My First Bibles in Kyrgyz, Russian and English.

Slovakia
IBS will provide 10,000 Slovakian Jesus - The Story of His Life Gospels of Mark to the Child Evangelism Fellowship for its Bible clubs and correspondence program.
