Reportedly, Intel is preparing a full upgrade for its chips as the company will release a new entry-level processor together with the seventh-gen Kaby Lake lineup.

According to PC World, tech maker HP may have inadvertently leaked details on the upcoming Apollo Lake chipset, said to be the entry-level and mobile counterpart to Intel's flagship Kaby Lake processor. Reportedly, documents on an upcoming HP hybrid, the Pavilion x360 m1, highlights that the new laptop and tablet convertible can be configured either as a high-end workstation, featuring a dual-core i3-7100U with Kaby Lake architecture, or as an entry-level slate/laptop with a Pentium or Celeron-based Apollo Lake processor. Two confirmed processors are listed, a Pentium N4200 and a Celeron 3350. Both chipsets reportedly run on only six watts of power, which means that long usage and battery life is one of the advantages of the new architecture. In addition, the two chipsets can also be configured for a base 1.2 GHz clock speed, though they can also be overclocked for up to 2.4 GHz.

Though the new Apollo Lake chipsets are entry-level processors, WCCFTech says that they will still have significant improvements over current-gen Intel mobile processors like Braswell and Cherry Trail. Reportedly, the new processors can get as much as 30 percent increase in performance and speed, since the Apollo Lake chipsets are basically done in the same 14nm architecture as the flagship Kaby Lake processors.

As to when can fans expect the two new Intel chipset lineups, reports mention that the Kaby Lake chipsets are already on their way to third party tech makers. Since HP has apparently already finished with a new product, it can be expected that both the flagship Kaby Lake and entry-level Apollo Lake processors be featured in new product lineups before the year ends, or by early months of 2017.
