Integrity announces winner of song contest

Integrity Music Europe has announced the winner of its 'Search For A Song' competition. In just one month, over 280 songs were submitted to WeAreWorship.com, with entries submitted from across the globe attracting over 1.2 million Facebook Likes and shares.

After a four-week long public vote produced a shortlist, our panel of judges last night announced the winner: 'You Are There' and written by Giles Blakenship and Lars Gordon.

Giles and his family currently reside in Fayetteville, NC, where he has served since August 2003 as a worship pastor with Snyder Memorial Baptist Church. Giles is married to Kelly and is father to a young son and daughter. More details can be found at www.weareworship.com/you-are-there

The vision of the contest was simple: to encourage local churches to use the WeAreWorship platform to share their songs on a global scale. Deliberately putting the song - rather than the songwriter - at the centre of the story - 'Search For A Song''s popularity far exceeded expectations, with some calculations estimating that the songs and the words "We Are Worship" were seen by tens of millions of Facebook users around the world.

While the numbers are themselves impressive, what touched the team was the sheer quality of the songs submitted. As a result, Integrity Music Europe is developing plans to celebrate every song submitted.

"In the next few months we hope to be rolling out even more tools where you can showcase and share your local songs on our global platform." Jonathan Brown, CEO Integrity Music Europe.

More details will be announced in time, but for now WeAreWorship.com has made it possible for every song to be showcased on the site. Songs can be shared via Facebook, Google and Twitter, and by simply pasting the unique page link into emails and websites too.
