'Injustice 2' release date, characters: roster being expanded with Darkseid?

Will Darkseid be a playable character in "Injustice 2?" Injustice: Gods Among Us wiki

It is already confirmed that a sequel to the hit game "Injustice: Gods Among Us" is coming out, and new heroes and villains are expected to appear. Speculations suggest that Darkseid may be one of the new characters for "Injustice 2."

According to Game Rant, Darkseid is one of the favorites among DC comics fans, and some of them have even questioned why the villain is not included in the roster for the original "Injustice: Gods Among Us" game. Developer NetherRealm Studios may be listening to fan feedback, and will include Darkseid for the sequel. The creative team has already done it for the original game, as they have included Darkseid as a playable character for the mobile version of "Injustice: Gods Among Us."

Meanwhile, aside from Darkseid, the industry follower also listed other fan favorites as possible additions to the "Injustice 2" roster. Heroes and villains who may make it to the sequel include Beast Boy, Captain Boomerang, John Constantine; as well as Jonah Hex, Starfire, Swamp Thing, King Shark, Rorschach, and the Red Hood.

NetherRealm Studios has already started teasing new additions to the game. Just recently, a new game trailer showcasing Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle.

Aside from adding new characters to the game, "Injustice 2" is also rumored to land for the PC and mobile at around the same time as its console versions. Reportedly, Ed Boon of NetherRealm Studios did a quick poll on which new app fans will want between an updated original "Injustice 1" app and a whole new "Injustice 2" mobile game, with the latter gaining 71% of the answers.

"Injustice 2" will pick up right after the events in the original game, as Batman and his allies try to rebuild the world destroyed by Superman and his one-man regime. However, the team will have to contend rebuilding with attempts to break the Man of Steel out of his Red Sun prison, as well as try to check out a whole new threat coming to Earth.
