Should consumers expect to see two back cameras on the next Huawei smartphone?

The Chinese telecommunications equipment firm will reportedly release their latest Huawei P9 smartphone device with two rear cameras. This is based on leaked photos posted online by tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer through his @stagueve Twitter account.

The photo features a pair of labels for the rear cameras of the upcoming device. It also has a cut-out of what seems to be a laser auto-focus feature aside from a spot intended for the LED flash, which means that the device has been developed to provide high-quality pictures.

It is also reported that the Chinese mobile phone manufacturer will also introduce two Huawei P9 variants, the LTE and the Deluxe editions. However, the difference between these variants are still unknown.

Other reports claim that the successor of Huawei P8 will come with a curved design and a fingerprint reader located on the back of the phone. One of the cameras will have a 16-MP capacity with optical image stabilization. The front-facing shooter is reported to be 10 MP.

While Huawei has yet to confirm the validity of these reports, the company recently sent out invitations for a press event that will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10.

Phone Arena says that the company will also officially launch the highly anticipated mid-range device Honor Play 5X at the event. This smartphone will allegedly come with a whopping 4000-mAh battery.

The Huawei Honor Play 5X will feature a 5-inch screen with a 720 x 1280 resolution and a 294-ppi pixel density. Under the hood, the smartphone will run on the MediaTek MT6735 processor, a quad-core 1.3-GHz CPU, as well as a Mali-T720 GPU. It will also have 2 GB of RAM with 16 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded using a microSD slot.

The device will also come with a 13-MP camera at the back and a 5-MP camera in front. The Huawei Honor Play 5X will come pre-installed with Android 5.1.
