HTC 10 release date, specs, features: HTC teases stellar battery life for flagship

HTC teases the HTC 10. Twitter/HTC

Going by the leaks regarding the HTC 10's specs, the flagship is shaping up to be a well-made iteration. According to a new teaser, one of the big improvements in the upcoming flagship is in its battery life.

In the latest teaser tweet from HTC, the company said that, "Our engineers are so obsessed with battery life we've turned it into a science. You'll feel it." The tweet came with a teaser video highlighting that the battery on the HTC 10 will offer extended hours for the user and may also be one of the main features of the flagship that HTC will use against current competitors.

However, according to GSM Arena, a supposed leak detailing the HTC 10's specs says its battery has a 3,000 mAh capacity. If this is proven true, this is just an average capacity for today's smartphone flagships, and some flagships – like the Samsung Galaxy S7 – already carry the same battery capacity. Meanwhile, although the HTC 10 may indeed carry a 3,000 mAh battery, HTC may be featuring a number of power-saving tech on the new flagship, hence the longer battery life.

One of the rumored things that may come into play is HTC's decision to switch to a new display tech for the HTC 10. Reportedly, the upcoming flagship will feature a Super LCD 5 screen. This will make the HTC 10 offer improved outdoor visibility and lower power consumption, as opposed to a regular LCD display.

Aside from an improved battery life, other specs spell out the HTC 10 to be a flagship iteration to watch out for. Rumored specs include a Snapdragon 820 processor, at least 4GB of RAM, and an UltraPixel camera setup.

The specs of the HTC 10 will be confirmed at its launch today.
