HTC 10 release date rumors: Flagship to receive Android Nougat 7.0 update soon?

While Google is already working on a major 7.1 version update, most tech makers have yet to roll out the base Android Nougat 7.0 platform. However, there are some who are seemingly ready to release the new Android version, as HTC is said to launch the OTA update to its current-gen HTC flagship, the HTC 10.

According to perennial tipster and leaker LlabTooFer, the Taiwan-based tech maker will make good its promise to start rolling out the Android Nougat 7.0 update to its devices before the year ends. Supposedly, the current-gen company flagship, the HTC 10, will receive the OTA notification for the update late this month or early in December.

However, the roll-out itself is expected to be on a staggered basis, since the supposed leak also mentioned that the November-December schedule is for the European versions of the flagship. In addition, it is likely that the first ones to receive the update will be the unlocked versions of the HTC 10, while the carrier-locked models will need to wait for the official update from the operators.

Meanwhile, it is already expected that HTC will be the first one to have a firm grip on an Android Nougat 7.0 release schedule. While other tech makers like Samsung and Sony Mobile have already started their own update programs, the Android Nougat version that they have are still on its beta version. HTC, on the other hand, has worked closely with Google for its Pixel and Pixel XL lineup, the first flagships to have the official, stock ROM for the Android Nougat 7.0 platform.

Although HTC has yet to come out with a specific release date for its Android Nougat 7.0 schedule, it is likely that the global release for the update will closely follow the European version launch. However, it may only be for the unlocked version, since global mobile carriers like the ones in the US market are likely to have their own schedules for an Android Nougat update on the carrier-locked HTC 10.
