Fans of the upcoming "Hitman" game will be surprised to know that although the game is nearing its release date, Square Enix will be going live with a closed beta for the title this week.

According to the beta launch trailer posted on the game's official YouTube channel, the beta will go live first for PlayStation 4 players on Friday, Feb, 12. Meanwhile, the PC version of "Hitman" will also have its beta run, which will start next week, on Feb. 19.

The PlayStation 4 beta will end on Feb. 15, while its PC counterpart will end on Feb. 22.

According to the Frequently Asked Questions page on the official "Hitman" website, although the version will only be a test stage and will deal with the opening parts of the game, the beta version will come as a 4.7 GB download for the PlayStation 4, and the PC version may also be the same size.

Fans who will be able to play the beta will also get first glimpse of the full version itself since the upcoming "Hitman" Beta is taken from the prologue of the game itself. Previous "Hitman" games contained this prologue, which took the form of a tutorial and general background details on the story.

For the upcoming "Hitman" game, the prologue will introduce beta players to the new gameplay features and mechanics in the new title. There will also be free-form training in terms of the missions, and the missions themselves will also have challenges which players can accomplish.

However, the beta version, although taken from the full game, will be a separate part of "Hitman." This means that any player accomplishments in the beta will not be carried over once the full version releases, and all players – whether they participated in the beta or not – will start with a clean slate.
