'Hitman' DLC, updates: 'Episode 2' releases on April 26

Hitman 2016 IO Interactive

The new "Hitman" game has been released as an episodic title. Good news for players, as the next episode finally gets an April 26 release date.

In the announcement video, publisher Square Enix and developer IO Interactive revealed that the next episode will be "Sapienza" and will roll out before the month ends. The next location is a make-believe Italian seaside town, and according to an earlier release trailer obtained by GameSpot, the upcoming missions for Agent 47 will have him scout the entire town. "From a luxurious mansion to the medieval church situated by the beach and the cramped alleys littered with stores, Sapienza is a dense location full of challenges and packed with opportunities and stories for the enterprising player to unfold," the Square Enix stated.

Meanwhile, although Sapienza is a quaint little seaside town, "... as with all locations within Hitman, dark secrets and engaging stories are everywhere to be found in charming Sapienza," the publisher added.

The industry follower added that originally, Sapienza is part of the initial content release for "Hitman," and also comprises Paris and Marrakesh. However, Square Enix switched to episodic releases for the game, which made Sapienze the location for "Episode 2." The initial episode is set in Paris when the game launched last month. Meanwhile, the third location, Marrakesh will be part of "Episode 3" and will be released next month.

Since the second episode rolls out towards the end of the month, fans may expect the next installment to appear towards the end of May, although Square Enix has yet to confirm this. Meanwhile, aside from the upcoming "Episode 2" pack, the publisher has already added more content to "Hitman," as a number of challenges have been unlocked recently.

"Hitman" was released last March 11 and is currently available on PlayStation 4 Xbox One, and Windows PC.
