'Halo 5: Guardians' Xbox One Beta test date set for December

Calling all "Halo" fans. Finally, there is a more definitive release date for "Halo 5: Guardians." It will be launched on the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2015, according to Breathecast.

But before you get too excited about "Halo 5," you must know that you can take part of the Xbox One beta phase and play the game for free. 343 Industries will launch the beta phase in December. This will be a real beta test, where the developers are looking to get input, suggestions and comments from the gamers themselves. In addition, this is the absolute time to test the game and improve anything that needs improving.

"Halo 5: Guardians" developer director Frank O'Connor had a chat with Eurogamer and spilled a couple of things about the beta testing.

"We'll be adding a lot of new things in Halo 5, but we want to talk to classic Halo fans about what makes a great Halo experience, and we think we're going to get a lot of data from them. And it's a real beta," said O'Connor. "Sometimes a beta is a good way to test performance on your network. We'll be looking at every aspect of how people play this, and we have a lot of time to actually take meaningful feedback."

More than improving user experience, 343 Industries also want to see how their players will play the new game. "We're trying to mine it for all the data we can get. Not just network data or performance data. It's like, how are people playing? How are they adapting to the features? How are they dealing with the new weapons? There will be a huge a amount of data for us to look at," O'Connor said.

So while "Halo 5: Guardians" will still be a year away, make sure you get on board the beta phase and get a taste of what the game will be about.
