'GTA Online' update release date: June 7 sees arrival of kingpin expansion

GTA Online - Further Adventures in Finance and Felony Rockstar Games

A major update is coming for players of the online feature of "Grand Theft Auto Online." The new expansion is expected to come out in the first week of June.

According to an announcement posted by developer Rockstar Games, the upcoming major update for "GTA Online" is a direct sequel to a previous DLC pack, "Executives and Other Criminals." The upcoming DLC, "Further Adventures in Finance and Felony," is expected as an expansion that "continues a player's mission to become the ultimate criminal kingpin of Los Santos and Blaine County in one of GTA Online's biggest and deepest updates yet."

In "Executives and Other Criminals," players in "GTA Online" are given the chance to build their own criminal organization and be the boss, even hiring other players as workers. As a direct sequel, "Further Adventures in Finance and Felony" gives players the tools needed to expand their criminal organization and make it an empire in Los Santos.

While Rockstar Games has yet to go into details on what improvements the new DLC will bring, it is expected that the upcoming DLC will add new and improved in-game items like properties, weapons, gears, and vehicles, like what the previous DLC did. The post did hint at this latest development, saying that the new expansion will have players, "Acquire a high-rise office and special warehouse properties to begin buying and selling a range of contraband across the city, all the while fighting the LSPD and the rest of the southern San Andreas criminal underworld for access to the rarest items and the biggest profits."

This marks another major update for "GTA Online." Previously, Rockstar Games only released a number of week-long special activities for players, with times exclusives on features and in-game items.

"Further Adventures in Finance and Felony" is expected to roll out on June 7.
