Although it may still take some years in development, speculations suggest that Rockstar Games is thinking of making "GTA 6" official with an announcement this year.

According to Gamenguide, Rockstar Games may be planning to tease fans for the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto series. Reportedly, since the franchise has been a huge success for the PlayStation, the publisher will be joining Sony for its next Sony PlayStation event later this year. The trade show is expected to unveil the new PS4 Neo, as well as the PS4 Slim.

For Rockstar Games, the publisher may be planning on making "GTA 6" official. Though it is already expected that a sequel is coming – the franchise is one of the biggest IP in Rockstar Games' portfolio – the publisher is keeping silent on rumors of "GTA 6," and has only mentioned the franchise in a number of indirect teases.

Aside from the franchise being a big hit on the PlayStation, another suggestion that "GTA 6" will become official soon is Rockstar Games hinting on its recent fiscal earnings reports that the studio is currently working on a "big project." Although it remains unclear if Rockstar Games is hinting at a new franchise, the big project being "GTA 6" is not out of the question.

Meanwhile, becoming official before the year ends is also likely for "GTA 6," since the installment is already in the pipeline. Speculations suggest that Rockstar Games is already in the thick of development for the game, given that a number of supposed leaks have already made their way online. Rumors of a massive, interconnected map; new characters; as well as a potential first-ever female lead have already made their rounds. In addition, "GTA 6" being confirmed this year is already expected by hardcore fans, who have been waiting for a long time since "GTA V" released in 2013.
