GTA 6 rumors, release date: Takes place in New York City

"Grand Theft Auto" 5 is a massive hit and with the looks of things, the game will just grow more and more in the next years, thanks to its loyal followers. Now there are rumors circulating that "Grand Theft Auto" 6 is already in the process of development and it will come to PC.

Rockstar, the developer of GTA, has not confirmed nor denied these rumors yet. But DJ Whoo Kid gave away a very subtle hint that "Grand Theft Auto" 6 will be set in New York City. DJ Whoo Kid talked about his music in video games to Ballerstatus and said "new 'Grand Theft Auto' that takes place in New York again."

His statement gave a nod to the rumors surrounding the new GTA just after GTA 5 was released. Is he saying what we think he is saying? If so, then "Grand Theft Auto" 6 is already in its planning or development stages. But which type of New York City will be seen? Is it Liberty City again? Or the metropolis New York City?

Back in October 2013, GTA developer Leslie Benzies told Develop that they have "45 years worth of ideas" they want to use. He also shared, "We don't know what 'GTA VI' will be, but we've got some ideas."

Benzies is one to focus on attention to the most minute details in video games. And he adds "That last 5 to 10 percent of work on the game makes a huge difference. This level of perfection is not seen or understood in the majority of the industry. We can all make a car drive down a street in a game, but can you do it in style? Everyone's got characters that are walking around but can they walk?"

Such belief is why "Grand Theft Auto" games are a big hit. When GTA 5 was released last September, it already earned $800 million dollars in the first 24 hours. That's 11.21 million copies sold overnight. After three days of release, GTA 5 had more than $1 billion in sales. After a month, it has become the "largest digital release" in PlayStation games.

GTA 5 will be launched on PS4, Xbox One and PC this fall. This news was already confirmed by Sony and Rockstar. But regarding GTA 6, everyone just has to wait for any further detail. But one thing is for sure, GTA 6 will not disappoint.
