Reportedly, Google will be launching at least two new Nexus smartphones for its flagship lineup. Although the company has yet to confirm it, numerous leaks are already making their rounds online, showcasing what the Google Nexus 2016 flagships may look like.

According to BGR, recent renders flesh out what the new HTC-made Nexus flagships look like. Codenamed "Sailfish" and "Marlin," the two new iterations will be in line with recent top-tier releases, not settling with a signature design and finish from previous Nexus lineups. Reportedly, the new phones made by HTC will have slimmer profiles, thinner bodies, and metal-and-glass construction. The two new iterations also have the same idea from the current-gen Nexus 5X and 6P, and will reportedly have simultaneous launches to be the top-tier, 2016 editions for the 5.0-inch and 5.5-inch display lineups for Google Nexus.

Meanwhile, although Google has yet to come out with confirmed specs sheet for the two iterations, fans already expect "Sailfish" and "Marlin" to both have top-tier specs. One feature of the new HTC Nexus phones is that the premium flagships will come out with a next-gen Snapdragon 821 processor. It may already be a given, since tech maker Qualcomm has already made official the SD 820 chipset follow-up. The next-gen processor is expected to be paired with at least 4GB of RAM. Given that there are two upcoming flagships, Google may also be thinking of having a premium-specs 2016 Nexus, and a 6GB RAM in one of the flagships is highly possible.

Other purported specs for the HTC-made Nexus 2016 phones include USB Type-C ports to keep the slim profile; a standard 3.5mm audio jack; next-gen connectivity; and Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box. Meanwhile, speculations suggest that the new Google Nexus lineups will be revealed as part of the launch for the full version of Android N, reportedly as early as next month.
