Christopher Judge, the voice actor of Kratos in "God of War" and the source of the rumor that the game will be released in 2017, recently indicated that it may come out in 2018.

The actor has since removed any date references on his Twitter account. Nonetheless, fans have taken the date change as an indication that the game will have a delayed release.

On the other hand, there are still some clinging to the possibility that a 2017 release will take place, a feeling that was renewed when Portuguese retailer Gaming Replay indicated that "God of War" will come out on Sept. 14. According to Wccftech, the rollout schedule on the site does not seem to be a placeholder date, which is usually the last day of the year or a given month. Amazon has listed the game's release as Dec. 29, although many feel that this is merely a temporary schedule.

While not making any references as to when "God of War" will come out, game director Cory Barlog has said that the development is going well. Although he admits on Twitter that producing it is "a daily emotional meat grinder," he feels good about what they are doing with the project.

The new "God of War" game will be a soft reboot of the story. It will feature Kratos, along with his son, Atreus. Rumors state that the story will feature the God of War trying to change his life for his son. The new offering will also update the gameplay, with Kratos using new weapons and at times teaming up with his son to defeat enemies.

Until Sony makes an official announcement on the release date of the game, all information about when "God of War" will be coming out should be taken with a grain of salt. However, it is likely that some information about the game will be given in this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). It will be released exclusively for PlayStation 4.
