Rumors are now going around that "God of War," a PlayStation 4-exclusive game, will be delayed by one year.

While Sony did not make any announcements about when the game will come out, "God of War" fans took to heart what Christopher Judge, who voiced Kratos in the game, posted on his Twitter bio. He wrote "God of War (2017)" as part of his credits, leading many to believe that the game will come out this year.

Interestingly enough, the actor is again the source of the rumors that the game's release date has been pushed back for another year, as he replaced "2017" with "2018," according to PlayStation Lifestyle. Judge has since removed the date on his Twitter bio. Gamezone said the actor also revealed in the post that he had a tentative idea of when the game will come out but did not want to say when it will be. Digital Spy also reported that online retailer Amazon posted a 2017 release date for the game, although it also later removed the year.

The last "God of War" title was released two years ago; hence, the high anticipation for this new title. The story will feature Kratos, now appearing to have aged for several years, and his son, Atreus. According to "God of War" director Cory Barlog, the game is set "well before the first Vikings," so it is unlikely that Kratos will battle against the Norse gods in the story. While not a full reboot of the film franchise, the game is said to be a retelling of Kratos' origin story.

It will not just be the story that will be overhauled. The gameplay is rumored to be almost completely different from how the previous "God of War" titles ran.

"God of War" was unveiled during Sony's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 press conference. Fans are hoping that news about the game, particularly its release date, will be revealed in this year's E3.
