'God of War' gameplay news: Sequels may feature Mayan or Egyptian Mythology

A new "God of War" game is coming in a few months, and there is still a lot of the gameplay to know about. While the best solution is to play the game on its release, the game's director was able to reveal a bit more of the game in an interview.

Game director Cory Balrog had a "rapid fire interview" where he was tasked to answer about a hundred questions about the game while only giving minimal answers. Although his answers were short, and some were said sarcastically, there are a lot of interesting questions with equally interesting answers from Balrog.

One of the biggest things he mentioned was that the next games for the franchise will actually make another move to other mythologies, either Egyptians or Mayans, with a possibility for both. This may not come as a surprise given that the upcoming game will also deviate from the original series, this time focusing on Norse mythology.

"The Greek games were the Greek era of God of War. Moving on, the next mythological belief system he interacts with became the Norse ea of God of War," mentions Balrog during the interview with GameInformer. "But we may end up going on to the Egyptian era and the Mayan era and so on and so forth."

Another thing he mentions was that Kratos would not be able to jump in the game. This may seem quite weird, but Balrog mentions that there is a good reason behind the small but big change. Long story short, they wanted to focus more on the closer camera angle as seen in the game's trailers. Double jumps were considered to be a bit too much in the previous games. To make up for it, there will still be the defensive moves and even counterattacks when possibly triggered at the right time.

As of now, "God of War" does not have an exact release date yet, but it is expected to be out in just a few more months.
