There is great power in prayer, and this is what Dutch Sheets, author of the bestselling book "Intercessory Prayer," is banking on after launching the "Give Him 15" app.
The free iOS app offers a daily devotional with accompanying Scripture and a prayer model that will help people spend 15 minutes with God.
Sheets told Charisma News that he got the inspiration for the app from the Bible passage Matthew 18:19-20, which reads: "Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three are assembled in My name, there I am in their midst."
"This is a strategy the Lord gave me for mobilizing the nation in a unified, daily appeal to heaven," Sheets said. "In the spirit of 2 Chronicles 7:14, it will lead us in repentance, the unravelling of unrighteous structures and toward revival in America. 'Give Him 15' could turn out to be the most significant strategy I've ever been part of for America."
Sheets described his app as a new national prayer movement, saying he is happy that it has gotten over 100,000 downloads already since it was launched last November.
The app, which also contains blogs, was developed by Christians from all over the country.
When there is a worldwide crisis, an urgent prayer alert would sound off so that Christians can make an intercession through prayer, such as the San Bernardino shootings and the hostage-taking of 170 people in a Mali hotel earlier this year.
Sheets shared a sample prayer from the app: "Dear Lord, I love You! Give me a passion to wait on You. I want to trust You enough to believe that You want this kind of time with me. I want to be desperate for the move of God You have promised, but I want it to be truly You and not a man-made movement. I pray for the church in America, that we stop trying to get the lost in the doors with productions and feel-good programs, but that we would want to see You and experience the weight of Your glory! The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come, Lord Jesus!' Come, Holy Spirit! Come!"
