Xbox One, Playstation 4 release date: Gamescom 2013 live stream, watch online free

Gamescom 2013 kicks off tomorrow in Cologne, Germany, and although gaming fans were expecting a release date from Microsoft for the Xbox One at the Gamescom Media Briefing today, the tech company did not reveal any new information.

Instead, Microsoft talked of the games that would be featured in their latest console, including console's "Fable Legends," "Ryse: Son of Rome," "FIFA 14" and "Call of Duty: Ghosts."

Microsoft also teased a new exclusive for the Xbox One. Phil Spencer, Microsoft Studio's corporate vice-president, said: "We're gonna have a really short stage presentation with some news, talking about some unique exclusive coming to the platform. We're going to talk about Europe's biggest franchise and maybe some interesting things. We have some stuff, but most of the time will be spent with the press getting time with the developers, with their games. So you should think about this as a room with a lot of hands-on. We think that these platforms are about the games, and we want to give the press time with the games."

Gamescom 2013 kicks Aug. 21 with pre-event press conferences. Sony Gamescom 2013 press conference event will kick off today at 10 a.m. ET and can be watched online via free live stream here.
