Titles under the "Command and Conquer" (C&C) franchise seem to be long dead. However, the developers of those games have recently made a new similar game to it, and it is getting its early access soon.

"Forged Battalion" is a game by developers, Petroglyph. Interestingly, Petroglyph is actually formed by former Westwood studios, the ones who made the original "C&C" games. It then comes as not much of a surprise that this new game seems a bit like the older game, albeit with different visuals.

According to PC Gamer, Petroglyph proudly announced their new game last October to possibly give a new hype for the real-time strategy (RTS) series they started with the "C&C" games. Players will be in charge of teams or factions and will be building a base with tanks, infantry, and most of the similar elements from the "C&C" series. However, of course, there are still a lot of other new and different elements "Forged Battalion" offers.

One of the biggest changes they made from the vintage "C&C" series is the ability to make an own entire faction with the "Forge Your Faction" feature. Players can customize their own faction and handpick their favorite tanks, aircraft, and infantry. Although it is not sure to what extent players can customize, this is a good jump from the original games.

Another new feature is the "Persistent Tech" tree. This may seem quite similar to the "Civilization" game series where players get to choose something like a tech perk. Players get to choose these the more they win battles. There are also different science paths, and reaching deeper into the tree unlocks "blueprints" that presumably allows players to build new units.

Players can test these features and more when "Forged Battalion" gets early access Jan. 16 via Steam. There is no official release date yet, but the full game will likely come a few months after the early access, as was also mentioned on the Steam website.
