"Fixer Upper" will be getting a fifth season, which will have 16 episodes.

This was announced previously on The Hollywood Reporter. The report also said that the episodes will air in late 2017. According to the article, HGTV originally wanted to have more episodes for the season. However, the Gaineses were adamant in not going beyond 16.

Prior to the official announcement, fans began speculating that the show will be renewed following a post by Joanna Gaines, who posted on Instagram last December a photo of herself and her husband and partner, Chip, in a car, with the caption: "Season five filming starts today!! I'm letting Chip drive today and he's really happy about that... #fixerupper @hgtv."

No details have been revealed yet on when season 5 of "Fixer Upper" will begin airing. However, following the previous seasons, it is likely that the first episode will be shown in November or December 2017.

Meanwhile, a spin-off of "Fixer Upper," titled "Fixer Upper: Behind the Scene," is currently under development and will start airing this year. It will focus on Joanna and the process she goes through when developing the design for the homes featured on the mother show. Joanna posted a teaser of the spin-off on Instagram.

Aside from their television show, the couple is also busy with their new business, as reported by Parent Herald. Originally a café, the couple converted it into a breakfast restaurant.

Rumors previously began circulating that "Fixer Upper" will be canceled following the revelation that the couple are associated with the Antioch Community Church, which is known for its anti-homosexuality stance. HGTV issued a statement after the issue erupted which said that the network does not discriminate against anyone from the LGBT community. The Gaineses, meanwhile, did not comment on the issue.

The renewal of the show, as well as the development of the spin-off, indicates that the network continues to have faith in the Gaines couple.
