'Final Fantasy VII Remake' release date update: Upcoming episodes of game to roll out to Nintendo NX?

While it is still unclear when "Final Fantasy VII Remake" will launch, new speculations suggest that Nintendo fans can expect the upcoming reboot to make it to their consoles, at least on the upcoming Nintendo NX.

Reports speculate that recent moves from both Square Enix and Nintendo give hints at possible collaborations in the future, and this may include the episodes of the upcoming "Final Fantasy VII Remake."

According to the industry follower, one hint that is a telling teaser of future collaboration is the latest addition to Nintendo's "Super Smash Bros." The recent expansion pack for the game unlocked Cloud Strife as a playable character and added Square Enix-owned assets like his move-sets using Limit Breaks and GF-related skills as well as Midgar as one of the stages in the game. The whole package is part of the latest DLC for the free-for-all brawler title.

Whether a coincidence or deliberate, Cloud Strife is the main protagonist in the original "Final Fantasy VII" game.

Other reports have said that it is unclear if "Final Fantasy VII" will be added as a launch title for the Nintendo NX, which is speculated to release later this year, or if the release of the game will be a simultaneous roll-out with the official PS4 version, which may make it by next year. It is also rumored that aside from "Final Fantasy VII," another franchise title may be released for the NX, the upcoming "Final Fantasy XV."

The two upcoming "Final Fantasy" franchise installments, while having no specific release dates yet, continue to interest the gaming community.

According to Gaming Bolt, a latest poll done by Japan-based gaming magazine Famitsu ranked "Final Fantasy XV' as the most anticipated game by players. Meanwhile, "Final Fantasy VII Remake" is in the top five. With another Square Enix title, "Kingdom Hearts III" in the top ten, the developer has three spots in the poll.
