'Final Fantasy 7 Remake' release date news: late 2017 release for game?

It is already expected that the remastered edition of the classic "Final Fantasy 7" game will be released next year. However, speculations suggest that fans will still have to wait a bit longer, since the launch may be delayed until as late as the end of 2017.

According to The Bitbag, third-party retailer Amazon has reportedly sent an update to players who have already purchased pre-orders for the upcoming "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" game. In the announcement, Amazon reportedly updated the estimated date of shipping out the new title, and pegged December 2017 as the new date. This may be just a placeholder for the third-party seller though, since publisher Square Enix has yet to come out with a specific release date for the new game.

However, it is believed that should "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" launch late next year, it will not be a surprise, particularly for the hardcore fans. Square Enix has promised a polished and fine-tuned remaster for one of the most popular titles in the "Final Fantasy" franchise, and the game is massive enough that a minor delay on its release is already expected.

It is already confirmed that the publisher opted for "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" to be a multi-part release. However, it is unclear if all the episodes for the full game will release over the course of 2017, or if Square Enix will peg specific launch dates, with only a month in between releases (much like how the studio released its other episodic game, the new "Hitman" reboot).

In addition, a late 2017 release for the game also conforms to suggested game launch schedules from Square Enix. Undoubtedly, the publisher is focusing on its preparations for a major launch this year, that of "Final Fantasy XV." Meanwhile, another big-name release, "Kingdom Hearts 3," is also in the pipeline.
