After Bethesda announced that the PlayStation 4 edition of "Fallout 4" will not support mods back in September, the company revealed that Sony finally changed its mind.

In a press release posted on the game studio's website, Bethesda said: "We are excited finally to get modding to our PlayStation fans who have supported us for so long. Modding has been an important part of our games for over 10 years, and we hope to do even more in the coming year for all our players, regardless of platform."

The statement also mentioned that the mod support for "Fallout 4" and "Skyrim Special Edition" will be finally offered in PlayStation 4 using the Creation Kit that can be downloaded from the site. The said Creation Kit will allow players to modify and customize their own content.

According to Bethesda, "You will not be able to upload external assets with your PlayStation 4 mods, but you will be able to use any assets that come with the game, as most mods do." Players only need to sign up for an account at Bethesda.net to be able to browse and sample the mods that are already available within the game.

It can be remembered that the game studio revealed back in September that Sony opted not to approve the use mods for "Fallout 4" and "Skyrim Special Edition" for PlayStation 4. But Bethesda said that they remain hopeful that the decision will be revoked in the future, which exactly happened early this month.

However, "Fallout 4" players must wait a little longer until the mod creation feature arrives on PlayStation 4 since the mod support will be available for "Skyrim" first as soon as the game comes out on the market on Oct. 28. Bethesda is expected to announce the exact date when the mod support for "Fallout 4" will begin on PlayStation 4 after their work on "Skyrim" is finally complete.

Both "Fallout 4" and "Skyrim" will also have the new PlayStation 4 Pro support with 4K resolution.
