Popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) "EVE Online" has just gotten their latest patch update called "Arms Race," and it is one of their biggest ones yet. With "Arms Race," gamers get to play a totally new feature in the game.

"There has never been a better time to join the universe of EVE and begin your own unique space adventure, or re-join and continue your journey," said CCP CEO Hilmar VEigar Petursson, as per Gamasutra. "The increased flexibility and depth of the free Alpha Clone experience means that EVE is more accessible than ever. EVE players can return and fly their favorite ships for free, reuniting with old corpmates, or continue forging their own destiny to make their mark on the universe."

In "EVE Online," there are two types of players: the Alpha State and the Omega State players. To put it simply, the former means that they are playing for free while the latter have paid for the game and have been granted access to more skills and options. However, with this new patch, the main idea for it was to level the playing field for both Alpha and Omega state players.

What this means for the Alpha state players is that they will now be granted access to all the Tech 1 hulls all the way to the Battleship class while making all the ships from all of New Eden available. That said, they now have the option to ride around 145 battleships and take them to war. They get to have free cross-faction training. Additionally, they can now also use the Tech 2 small and medium weapons systems.

In line with the new big update, there will also be an "Arms Race" event until next week, Dec. 12. This simply provides further incentive for players to try the previously exclusive features of the game. The incentives come in the form of points which they can use in exchange for rewards.
