Elderly woman leaves touching note for her husband before her passing

An elderly man in Mississippi recently received a touching note from his wife of 60 years, days after she passed away earlier this month.

Blogger Cliff Sims reported that his grandfather, Jimmy Breland, was comforted by the unexpected message, and was assured that he would see his wife again one day.

Sims remembered his grandmother, Billie, as someone who enjoyed crossword puzzles, cutting the grass, raking leaves, and penning handwritten notes.

"She was an avid note writer," he recounted. "Every photo on the walls of their home is meticulously documented.

"She wrote down funny things that happened or quotes she wanted to remember, all in the perfect cursive handwriting that could only belong to a school teacher."

One note she wrote wasn't for herself, however. Jimmy, a former Baptist student minister, discovered an index card inside his late wife's checkbook.

"Please don't cry because I died!" the note read. "Smile because I lived! Know that I'm in a happy place! Know that we will meet again! I'll see you there!"

"It perfectly sums up the hope and comfort that comes with knowing you'll meet again in eternity," Sims explained.

Billie passed away at the age of 83 after suffering a broken hip and severe memory loss in recent months. Her family remembered her for her selflessness, and the many lives she touched.

"There's nothing like the celebration of a life lived well and a legacy that will last for generations," her grandson wrote.
