'Dying Light' will make players collect zombie blood in upcoming PvP expansion

Zombie survival game "Dying Light" will get a new player vs. player (PvP) expansion. The new addition is called "Bad Blood." It is inspired by the battle royale craze featured by games like "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" and "Fortnite."

However, due to its setting, "Dying Light's" battle royale experience will be unique from the usual. For one, it will be a combination of PvP and player vs. environment (PvE) gameplay. The new mode will be limited up to six players per session.

In "Bad Blood," the six players will be dropped in a zombie-infested area. The ultimate goal of the mode is to escape the place before dark. There will be a chopper waiting to take the players out of the area, but seats can only be paid for by zombie blood.

So from a pure gameplay standpoint, obtaining zombie blood is one of the most critical aspects of the new expansion. Players can collect blood samples from fallen zombies. They can also scavenge for weapons that may help make the harvesting much more manageable.

Collecting more blood samples will unlock more seats on the chopper, but players have to pay for their positions individually.

This could lead to an interesting dynamic between the players. In the earlier parts of the session, they may play nice and decide to work as a team. As the game goes on, there is a very high chance that players will turn on each other to steal their collected blood samples. The mechanics aim to keep the players on the lookout for betrayals while also looking for advantages themselves.

"Dying Light" was first released in 2015 as an open world first-person zombie shooter. A story expansion called "The Following" was released a year later.

Game developer Techland has officially announced that the "Bad Blood" expansion is in the works. Interested players can participate in a global playtest by signing up on the expansion's official website.
